College & Career Center Visits
In the months of October and November, during the 23-24 school year, LPS partnered with a variety of local colleges and career centers to offer visits for all of our 8th grade students. These visits provided our students with an overview of a college or career center experience by allowing them to tour the campus/career center of their choosing, meet with students and staff, and learn more about the programs each college/career center offers. After the visits, we received extremely positive feedback from students, parents, and school administration. We are thankful to each of the colleges and career centers listed below that partnered with us on these visits!
- Missouri Western State University
- Park University
- University of Central Missouri
- University of Kansas
- University of Missouri - Kansas City
- William Jewell College
- MCC - Maple Woods
- Area Career Center (Excelsior Springs)
- Northland Career Center (Platte City)
We would also like to thank the Kauffman Foundation and the LPS Department of Student Equity & Access for organizing funding through the "Equity in Schools Grant." Through this grant, LPS was able to pay for transportation to/from each visit, lunches for all 8th graders, and for the college/career center student giveaway items.
We look forward to offering both college and career center visits for the 24-25 school year as well.
