Industry-Recognized Credentials MVA
Industry-recognized credentials (IRCs) are certificates, certifications, or licenses that are regionally vetted and recognized by employers as having industry value. IRCs show evidence of a person’s skills and knowledge in a particular field. IRCs are typically identified and validated through a collaborative process involving state education departments and employers to ensure they are relevant and applicable to current industry needs. Additionally, some credentials are tailored to meet the specific demands of different regions.
Missouri Seal of Biliteracy
The Missouri Seal of Biliteracy is an award granted to students who have attained proficiency in English and one or more other world language(s) before high school graduation. The Missouri Seal becomes a part of their high school transcript and certifies their ability for the community, employers, and universities. The Seal can be earned by graduating high school students in several ways. Native English-speaking students, English learners, and other heritage language learners may acquire the second language through any method attempted by the student, including:
- Traditional world language classrooms
- Community-based programs
- Home language use
- Worldly experiences
Hard Hat Ready
The Hard Hat Ready Program is an opportunity for high school students interested in a career in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry. The program seeks to provide students with exposure, engagement and credentials to be jobsite ready for any career in the built environment. Program completers earn certification in OSHA 10, ProCore, and First Aid CPR/AED.
Career Centers
Students can earn an MVA at Career Centers through certification opportunities for a variety of trades and/or with an internship. Career and Technical Education (CTE) engages students in active learning and rigorous academics that promote employable technical skills. CTE students graduate from high school with a solid foundation for secondary careers and/or college. Career Center programs are open to juniors and seniors by application process, and programs are half-day.
