Job Shadowing

Out-of-District Job Shadowing Opportunities

Please see below for a list of job shadowing opportunities outside of LPS with links to applications. For the job shadow opportunities listed below, students may complete the applications on their own. You do not need to contact a teacher or other school staff member before completing the application.

  • North Kansas City Hospital - Job Shadow is a one-day opportunity (some nursing shadows might allow for multiple days) for students ages 16 and older who have a general interest in a career in healthcare. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please click here to complete the job shadow application.
  • Burns & McDonnell - High school students can get a glimpse into the future by connecting online or in-person with young professionals at Burns & McDonnell.  These professionals will describe their career path and what it took to get where they did.  They'll also discuss a "typical day", from interacting with clients and co-workers to project work.  You'll have the opportunity to develop networking skills that will help you in finding internships and jobs in the future. Please click here to complete the application.
  • The University of Kansas Medical Center  offers a Clinical Shadowing experience. This consists of a one-day (maximum of 12 hours) shadow experience for high school students aged 16 years and older. Please contact Kayla Koenig at 913.945.6720 and click here to view the application. It is recommended to contact Ms. Koenig before completing the application.
